Here is a case study on a single-player fitness gaming experience I completed back in 2021.
'Skater Overdrive' is a casual game that lets you skate around the city and complete various challenges, such as picking up and dropping items, cleaning the environment, and avoiding goons. You can customize your skater’s look, accessories, and power-ups with the fitness points you earn. The game is designed to work with the Yipli smart mat, which is a device that tracks your movements and lets you control the game with your body.
As a principal designer for the studio, I collaborated with the developers and artists to create this original game with an endless-runner genre. I wrote the game design document and established a punk-inspired art style, as well as created various assets such as 3D models, colours, UI icons and sprites. The goal of this project was to make fitness enjoyable, interactive and attractive for the young audience of users.
Game design was created with purchased assets from these developers on the Unity store:
- Toon City & Toon Nature by SICS games
- Polygon Nature Pack by Synty Studios
- Toon Teens by JBGarraza
